Financial education for Grades 6 to 8

Where money starts to make sense.

Children discover one money idea at a time through 15 games. Alongside the later sessions, the Life Money Lab turns their learning into a money life of their own: a chosen profession, a monthly income, and real decisions made safely.

The idea

Learn through games. Apply it in a money life.

The games and the Life Money Lab are two different layers. One creates curiosity. The other lets children live the decisions.

Step 1: Play

Learn through games

A child feels the idea before hearing the definition. Work, income, needs and wants, saving, risk, and interest, each made clear through one focused game.

Step 2: Apply

Run a money life in the Lab

This is a practical lab, not another game. Each child chooses a profession, earns an income shaped by their game score, and manages budgeting, saving, investing, insurance, and loans on their own numbers.

The Life Money Lab

A practical money life, while mistakes are still safe.

The Lab begins alongside the later game sessions. Each child chooses a profession, turns their game score into a monthly income, and manages the decisions adults face: budgets, goals, unexpected events, insurance, and borrowing.

"It is not a classroom. It is the first experience of adult finance life, while they are still safe enough to make mistakes."

Each stage is opened by the teacher for the whole class at once. No child moves on until the class is ready.

SMILE runs inside a normal class timetable, led by a teacher who does not need to be a finance expert. A small number of schools join each year as Founding Partners.

I have a financial education module for Grades 6 to 8. Children learn through games and then apply inside the Life Money Lab. Our games create the curiosity. The Life Money Lab gives that curiosity a place to grow.
